The event will provide applicants with a taste of university life and the chance to see for themselves what the University has to offer. Bristol remains one of the UK’s most popular universities in terms of the number of applicants per place and was also rated in the top ten in the Top Universities League Table, Times Good University Guide 2008.

Around 40 of the University’s undergraduate departments are taking part and will be hosting a series of activities and information events including over 60 different lectures on a diverse range of subjects such as ‘Neuroscience: hearts may pump and muscles may switch, but brains rock’, ‘Freakonometrics’, ‘Physics of ice-cream’ and ‘Rifting in Ethiopia: the generation of new oceanic crust’.

There will also be a chance for students to visit University accommodation as well as an exhibition in the Victoria Rooms for them to find out more about the student support services on offer.

Over 100 student stewards, wearing red T-shirts, will be on hand to help visitors find their way around the University precinct. There will also be general information talks in the Wills Memorial Building with specific sessions for parents, teachers, careers advisers and mature students.

The University’s Director of Student Recruitment, Access and Admissions, Angela Milln, said: “It’s a pleasure to have so many people visiting us and we hope students find the day informative and enjoyable.
