‘Promotion’ is the procedure giving an individual the opportunity to move within the academic career pathway framework to a new role profile level on the basis of peer reviewed achievement.
This involves providing evidence of the relevant level(s) of excellence required for the pathway/profile in question. Promotion is possible to the level d2 (Reader/Reader in Research/Reader in Teaching and Learning) and level e (Professor/ Professorial Research Fellow / Professorial Teaching Fellow).
The Promotion Procedure also deals with exceptional cases of accelerated progression from staff on profile levels b or c to level d1 (Senior Lecturer / Senior Research Fellow / Senior Teaching Fellow) ahead of their expected progression date.
