| Abstract |
Making journalism commercially viable in the digital age is a challenge that continues to test publishers around the world. Major media brands have, after a sluggish start, embraced new platforms such as tablets with all the zeal of the convert. Yet, for all their new radicalism when it comes to the distribution of their content, media companies are strangely conservative about content itself. Technology offers fantastic opportunities to create and share news, information and entertainment in exciting new ways. But these opportunities are being spurned by those wedded to old approaches to creating and serving up content. William Lewis argues that fresh methods of storytelling need to be found to reconnect with readers and audiences left uninspired by conventional journalism. The event will be followed by a wine reception. |
