Abstract

This event is a chance to engage actively in some of the work of an on-going research project, that has been tackling underachievement in primary mathematics through a focus on creativity. The project is a collaboration between the University of Bristol and the charity “5x5x5=creativity”.

We have had some striking successes and in this session we will share what we have learnt so far. We will offer our thoughts on: what is creativity in mathematics? and give a brief background to the project. Participants will engage in one or more of the activities from the project, we will look at some students' work and then open up to a discussion of issues raised. After the workshop there will be a reception event and a chance to continue conversations and get involved.

This event is followed by a wine reception.
