Support Staff Conferences

Second Faculty Support Staff Conference - 2007

Following the success of last year's conference and the positive feedback received from the delegates, we organised a second conference for support staff in our Faculty on Wednesday 26th September 2007 at the Merchant Venturers Building.

The programme was different from the previous year, and included talks and workshops relevant to career and personal development.

The 2007 conference included:

as well as workshops, talks from the Faculty Managers and a question and answer session.

For your information you can download the presentation from Len Hall, (PowerPoint file, 2,804 Kb).

What we hoped attendees would gain from the conference

The intention of the conference was for attendees to learn how to make the most of their current career and how to seek opportunities for the future.

Lunchtime Tour

Picture of Wills Tower

A popular part of the day was the guided tour of the Wills Building which took place during the lunchtime break. Those who went on the tour were lucky with the weather and, for those who took the trip to the very top of the tower, the view was excellent. Those on the tour were also able to experience what it was like to hear the bell strike from inside the bell chamber!

Workshops

During the day attendees had the opportunity to attend two workshops, which included a practical session on career management and development; two others on working relationship strategies and time and workload management plus an interactive workshop from two members of the Department of Anatomy on skull anatomy which also described how they both got involved with teaching anatomical classes to students.
