Welcome

Welcome from the Graduate Dean

Welcome to a university which is one of the best in the country for research and teaching in the medical and veterinary sciences.  You will be joining a dynamic and diverse group of postgraduates – some studying for a taught masters degree, while others have a wide variety of research projects, many of them funded by research councils or by leading medical and animal charities.  Whether you are starting a taught MSc or one of our research programmes – MSc, MD or PhD – these webpages will provide a comprehensive guide.  Here you will find advice on academic and financial matters and an introduction to the postgraduate community and our research postgraduate skills training programme.

As Graduate Dean, I am responsible for postgraduate matters in the faculty.  For example, the appointment of research degree examiners is subject to my approval, while I advise the Dean on graduate strategy.  Please feel free to come and chat with me if you have questions or concerns, or a problem that you would rather not raise in your department.  My office is F32 in the Medical Sciences Building. Alternatively, email me at catherine.nobes@bristol.ac.uk).

I wish you every success in your studies!

Dr Catherine Nobes (Kate)

Graduate Dean and Postgraduate Education Director, Faculty of Medical and Veterinary Sciences
