Image of Mark DavisMark is a Lecturer in Exercise, Nutrition and Health Sciences and unit coordinator for Physical Activity,  Disease and Public Health and Study Skills. His research interests are in physical activity patterns in older adults (over 70 years) and objective measurement of physical activity. Recent research includes work on Project OPAL (Older People and Active Living) an investigation of  the physical activity patterns and their determinants in people aged 70, and over, living in urban settings. Mark was Project Manager for department's part in a multicentre European research project - 'Better Ageing', supporting and coordinating collection and analysis of physical activity monitoring data using Actigraph accelerometers. Other research includes evaluation of Bristol’s Walking the Way to Health programme. Mark has been a member of the Department of Exercise, Nutrition and Health Sciences since 1996. He has worked with accelerometers and particularly with Actigraph data collection and analysis since 1998, working on projects such as the St Ivel Childrens Physical Activity Survey and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. Mark holds an MSc in Exercise & Health Sciences and an MPhil which focused on the effects of multiple bouts of brisk walking on acute blood pressure.
