Schools questions

What is PEACH?

PEACH stands for Personal and Environmental Associations with Children’s Health.

The aim of the PEACH Project is to better understand the health behaviour choices that young people make and how these are influenced by the physical environment around them.   To do this we are working with approximately 1200 pupils from across Bristol looking at their physical activity patterns to investigate when they are at their most (and least) active and, importantly, where they are during these times.

The project is currently in the process of expanding to incorporate a range of eating behaviour measures designed to provide a greater understanding of how everyday environments impact upon the dietary decisions that young people make.

What will I be required to do?

The PEACH project has been designed to ensure that minimum burden is placed on participating schools and teachers.  We will simply need appropriate rooms booked prior to our visits, and assistance to ensure that pupils know when and where they need to be for our visits.  We will discuss all requirements with you well in advance of any visit, however if you have any concerns regarding your role in the project please do not hesitate to contact Pippa or Laura.

Will we be able to see the results from our school?

While we are unable to provide you with pupil results on an individual level we are able to provide overall school results.  Please contact us and let us know of any results that may be of particular interest to your school and where possible we will we will be happy to investigate these for you.   In addition we will ensure that all participating schools are kept up to date with copies of our newsletter and we will provide you with a short report of final results at the end of the study.

Any other questions?

If you have any other questions about the study, please contact us.
