Surgery Information
Thank you to our 12 NHS Bristol partner surgeries! Without their support and involvement, Project OPAL would not have happened. Phase 1 has been completed with all surgeries. For confidentiality reasons, we are sorry to say that we can’t publicise their details.

Frequently asked questions from surgeries
- Who do I contact with an Project OPAL query?
As a first point of contact, please contact the project manager Jo Coulson.
- Our surgery is keen to get involved in research. Can we help?
Thank you for your interest in our work. We successfully recruited the 12 surgeries we needed for Project OPAL. However, we’re hoping to build on the work of the project into the future. We’re particularly keen to nurture relationships with local service-providers, be they GP surgeries, charities or other organisations. If you’re interested in being involved in this exciting work into the future, please also contact Jo Coulson.
- What are the project findings?
Keep up to date by visiting our publications page. Further findings will be coming out over the next few months, so please visit us again.
- Don’t you need us again?
Yes. Although OPAL recruitment has finished, there are two further steps where we'd appreciate your help. First, we'd like your GPs to re-screen OPAL participants for our three year follow-up, Project OPAL-Plus. Second, we originally asked participants for their permission to look at their medical records. We would need confidential access for information relevant to the study, including past service usage. We hope we can count on your continued support at these stages, which we hope to keep as streamlined as possible.
