Sponsored by the National Heart Forum, the Department presents the first Jerry Morris Memorial Lecture.
Every year, since 2007, the Department has organised an annual public Jerry Morris Lecture. Sadly Professor Jerry Morris died late last year, aged 99, and therefore this will be the first memorial lecture and will include a tribute to his life by Sir Alexander Macara.
Dr Jack Guralnik, Chief of the intramural Laboratory of Epidemiology , Demography and Biometry at the National Institute on Aging, USA, will speak on "Maintaining mobility in old age: The role of physical activity”. All are welcome and there is no need to book. The lecture is being held in the Peel Lecture Theatre, School of Geographical Sciences, University Road, on Tuesday 16 February from 5.30 - 7.00pm. This is building number 27 on the precinct map. The evening will also include the presentation of awards, sponsored by Lifetime Health and Fitness to MSc students graduating in Nutrition, Physical Activity and Public Health.
