We host a vibrant and diverse postgraduate community of over 700 students, from all round the world, studying on programmes that evolve continuously to stay at the cutting edge of research and industrial advances. Since 2006 we have secured over £20 million of UK government funding to support our Centres for Doctoral Training (in Systems, Complexity Sciences, Composites and Communications), which provide 4 years of training in research and professional skills for cohorts of 10-15 students per year.
We have also set up a new Graduate School in Engineering to support the continuing rapid development in postgraduate education. The School provides dedicated and expert administrative support to all PG students, and to academic staff who are supervising research students or running advanced taught programmes. It also provides a programme of professional skills training for PG students.
We attract many applicants for our highly-regarded advanced taught courses in Communication Networks & Signal Processing, Computing, Integrated Aerospace Systems Design, Mechanical Engineering, Microelectronic Systems Engineering, Robotics, Systems and Water & Environmental Management, and the conversion course in Computer Science.
Many of our doctoral and masters projects run in close partnership with industry, providing outstanding opportunities for all our PG students to develop a wide range of high-level skills in addition to their specialised technical knowledge, and to start building their networks within their chosen profession. We are a partner university of choice for many leading companies because of the qualities of our graduates.
