Advanced Composites Centre for Innovation and Science (ACCIS)

Fractured size effect samples showing brittle nature

The Advanced Composites Centre for Innovation and Science (ACCIS) brings together composites activities across the University of Bristol, based in the Faculty of Engineering and linking to the Science and Medical Faculties. The ACCIS vision is to be a world leading centre for composites education and research, combining cutting edge fundamental science with strong industrial links for exploitation and technology transfer.

Since forming in 2007 ACCIS has become a focus for collaboration in composites research internally, nationally and internationally. The establishment of the Centre for Doctorial Training in Advanced Composites for Innovation and Science (previously known as ACCIS Doctoral Training Centre) in 2009, supported by funding awarded by EPSRC, has further strengthened the ACCIS research base by substantially increasing student numbers and widening collaboration with industry.
