Scholarships

There are many funding opportunities for Engineering students, and more opportunities are emerging all the time. There are subject-specific scholarships and prizes, a number of general funding opportunities and sources of information, and also Faculty Scholarships for the best overseas undergraduate entrants.

Faculty Overseas Scholarships

The Faculty will offer first-year scholarships of £1000 to overseas fee-paying undergraduate entrants starting their programme of study in October 2012. The scholarships are as follows:

There is no need to apply for these scholarships, all eligible candidates will automatically be considered when they arrive and register at the University in October 2012.

Requirements to receive a scholarship

Scholarships will be given to all candidates who arrive to study and who have achieved A*AA at A Level, or the international equivalent. To win a scholarship, the A* must be in Maths, Further Maths, or Physics; General Studies A Level, or A Level languages where that language is your native language, will not be counted for the purposes of the scholarship.

International equivalencies of A*AA A Level are at the discretion of individual admissions tutors in departments, but the following may act as a guide for prospective students:

·         International Baccalaureate
38 overall with 6, 6, 6 at HL

·         India
CBSE – 88 (with over 90 in either Maths or Physics)

·         Foundation programmes
Bristol Foundation with Maths and Physics: a minimum of 70% in both Maths and Physics,
with 75% in either Maths or Physics.

·         NCUK
A*, A*, A* in the academic subjects

·         Malaysia, STPM
All As
