Friedrich Willhelm Bessel Research Award - Professor Thorsten Wagener

Congratulations to Professor Thorsten Wagener of the Department of Civil Engineering, who has been given a Friedrich Willhelm Bessel Research Award of the German Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.

The award is given annually to scientists and scholars from abroad, internationally renowned in their field, who completed their doctorates less than 18 years ago and who in future are expected to continue producing cutting-edge achievements which will have a seminal influence on their discipline beyond their immediate field of work".

The award winners are invited to carry out research projects of their own choice in cooperation with colleagues in Germany to promote international scientific cooperation

Prof. Axel Bronstert from the University of Potsdam nominated Prof. Wagener for the award. Prof. Wagener will use his award to initiate research collaboration with the Institute for Earth and Environmental Science at the University of Potsdam located just outside of Berlin.
