Ben Freedman said, "I am extremely honoured to have been recognised with this award, particularly up against so many talented engineers in the region.”

Adrian Warr, Chairman of the Western Counties Branch of the Institution of Structural Engineers, and one of the judges, commented: "Ben stands out amongst his peers for his commitment to design, quality and more recently to sustainable construction. He has an obvious passion for engineering and an interest in supporting humanitarian causes."

Caroline Owen, Director, Hays Construction & Property in Bristol, says, "We’re delighted to recognise the achievements of all our talented winners and runners up. The standard of entries was extremely high, and demonstrates the engineering talent in the South West. We are committed to supporting the careers of young engineers in the region.”
