Industry Insight talk - Fixing a nose-bleed on a Rolls-Royce engine

5 October 2017, 1.00 PM - 5 October 2017, 2.00 PM

Dave Williams, Systems Design Engineer

Room 1.18, Queen’s Building

Dave Williams, Systems Design Engineer from Rolls-Royce, will give insight into ‘Nose-bleeds’ – oil leakage from engine bearing chambers leading to pooling of oil in the engine intake. This can cause significant impact to the service operation of a gas turbine engine, requiring a modification to rectify the issue. Starting with root cause investigation and ending with demonstration of a successful solution, this presentation will give a real-life example of design and development on a Rolls-Royce combat engine.

Light refreshments afterwards - all welcome.

The Industry Insight event programme is aimed primarily at students - speakers from a range of industries will share their inside knowledge. All of the talks will be followed by a Question & Answer session and a chance to meet the speaker(s) over drinks.
