Seminar: Visualization of Biological flow in small nature

1 March 2017, 2.00 PM - 1 March 2017, 3.00 PM

ACCIS 1, Queen's Building

The Fluid & Aerodynamics Research Group invite guest speaker Dr Kenji Kikuchi  (Tohoku University, Japan and Visiting Fellow, University of Cambridge) to give a seminar.

Title: "Visualization of Biological flow in small nature"

Abstract: This talk will explore visualization of flow around/inside living things, especially at sub-millimeter scale. Micro PIV and PTV have been applied to such biological flows to know their motions and functions that is the biomechanics. Examples of blood flow in a female mosquito, a cilia-generated flow on mouse trachea and a cytoplasmic streaming in plant cell will be presented as well as others.

All welcome, no booking required.
