The Inside Track Lecture on Engineering Sporting Excellence

17 October 2013, 1.00 PM - 17 October 2013, 1.00 PM

Find out how engineering solutions are delivering gains to a number of elite sports.
Kelvin Davies, an engineer and psychologist with many years' experience in aerospace engineering, works for BAE Systems, Advanced Technology Centre. He is the project lead of the BAE Systems Technology Partnership with UK Sport. This relationship is worth £2.3 million in support of British athletes in preparing for sporting success at International level. Running since 2007, the relationship gives the British sporting world access to leading-edge technologies as well as considerable engineering knowledge and expertise. The relationship has seen BAE Systems support around 20 elite sports teams and 140 individual athletes and their coaches.

Kelvin's lecture will provide an insight into some of the engineering solutions that are delivering ‘marginal gains’ to a number of elite sports, illustrated by examples of how these contributed to the successes seen during the events of 2012.
