The IMechE Western Aerospace Centre 2013 Prize Competition Evening

The Western Aerospace Centre is running its annual prize competition to encourage the further professional development of young engineers living and working in the West of England and South Wales.
Date - Monday 15th April 2013

Time - 18:00 for 18:30 start

Venue - Lecture Theatre 1.15, Queen's Building

The competition finalists, including two from the University of Bristol (Eric Eckstein and Peter Thomas), will be presenting their contributions to leading edge research and development projects to a panel that will include engineering directors from the region’s leading Aerospace organisations.

The presentation topics are:

  • Eric Eckstein, University of Bristol - Morphing High Temperature Composites as Autonomous Actuators for Extreme Environments
  • Varun Thangamani, Cranfield University - Some Practical Considerations in the Search for Cavity Tone Suppression for Aircraft Weapons Bays
  • Peter Thomas, University of Bristol - The Development of Simulation and Control Tools for Autonomous Air to Air Refuelling
  • Yachao Wang, Messier-Dowty - A Heat Treatment Study on Internal Quenching

This is an excellent opportunity to support your professional development, network with senior Aerospace representatives and to learn more about research and development in the South West Aerospace community.

The event is free to attend and is open to all. No pre-booking required. Finger buffet and drinks served afterwards.
