My main research focus is robotic and bionic engineering with particular emphasis on prototyping a novel humanoid chewing simulators for In-vitro, testing of dental components/materials at relatively low cost and drug delivery system using a medicated chewing gum. Both dental and biomedical applications involve a multidisciplinary approach finding inspiration from biological systems to design and develop a new product for health care. The recent collaboration with the Clinical Trails Unit at the Bristol Dental School has shown a great potential for these two inventions.

I am also interested in the performance assessment and failure prediction of wind turbine gearbox for renewable energy. The recent collaboration with Vestas the largest wind turbine manufacture in the world has been very fruitful in this regards.

I enjoy studying biological systems, many aspects of biological systems are mechanical in nature. An understanding of biomechanics enables me with inspiration for new product and development of better diagnostic procedures and more effective techniques leading to; continuous improvement of medical, sports, and rehabilitation devices. This started with my first invention, Dento-Munch simulator where it was necessary to study and analyse the biomechanics of human mastication and come up with a design of a bio-robot to mimic human chewing. Dento-Munchys design is based on a human skull (structure), spider (general look) and aircraft simulator (dynamics and control of chewing).
