Individual research project

Students in their third year of study undertake an individual research project (IRP) on a subject that is provided by their assigned supervisor. Projects may contain design and manufacture, theoretical, numerical and experimental parts. The students use the knowledge and skills they have learned in the first two years to make a contribution to a larger research based project.

Students will learn:

  • how to plan and execute a project and work to a budget
  • to write a detailed and structured project report
  • advanced knowledge in the subject area of the project
  • to communicate results to a jury
