I chose to study Engineering Mathematics at Bristol as I was impressed by the unique range of courses and topics covered by the degree. The mathematical modelling approach to the course gives you the skills to be successful in a wide range of careers.

I am now a Managing Director within the Global Markets division of Deutsche Bank. I work in the Research department and am responsible for developing and maintaining financial indices.  Deutsche Bank is a leading global financial institution. The Global Markets division focuses on creating innovative solutions to meet the financing, investing and hedging needs of its clients, who are the world’s leading corporate, government and institutional investors.

The indices developed by my team track various financial markets or investment strategies and are used as the basis for financial products. Indices can be designed for use in a range of instruments from publicly available exchange traded funds to highly customised solutions for specific corporations.

I joined Deutsche Bank on the graduate training program after graduating from Engineering Mathematics. During my time at Bristol I developed many skills that have been invaluable whilst working at Deutsche Bank. The courses, ranging from applied mathematics to computing, gave me the technical and mathematical expertise I need. The focus on team projects at Bristol helped me develop the skills I need to work across multiple time zones and departments.
