UK Electronics Skills Foundation

The Department is proud to be a member of the UK Electronics Skills Foundation (UK-ESF). Each year all students registered on any of our electrical and electronic engineering degree programmes (with the exception of those in their final-year) are invited to apply for a UK-ESF scholarship. Applications must be submitted by the end of October in each academic year. Historically around 30% of Bristol applications are successful.

Successful UK-ESF scholars receive:

  • A scholarship (currently £1,500 per year) with a selected company,
  • Paid work placements (currently at £1,250 a month),
  • Industrial mentoring,
  • Employability skills training at UK-ESF Summer Workshops,
  • Opportunities to build relationships with potential employers.

The scheme is supported by a wide-range of internationally-leading companies. For example, you could be working with one of several UK companies that design the electronics inside the iPhone and iPad!
