Research summary

Stuart is currently working on three research projects at the Centre for Innovation, focused in the field of Human Computer Interaction.

Tangible user interfaces with children in care and adopted children

Stuart is a research associate on this project, involved in researching and developing digital technologies to support children in care and adopted children with the process of life storying, a method for addressing past life events and developing the self. The team have been undertaking participatory design workshops to understand the differences in context and requirements of children in a range of care environments.

Stuart joined the Centre for Innovation at the University of Bristol in 2017 after completing his PhD in serious games for physical and cognitive wellbeing with children. Stuart's postgraduate work was completed at the University of Edinburgh and undergraduate work at Heriot-Watt University.

His background and interests lie in human computer interaction, considering how people use technology and helping to design better experiences. A great deal of Stuart's work has involved working closely with children and school, to create new technology through user-centred design partnerships.
