Strategic Advisory Board

The Strategic Advisory Board (SAB) is composed of a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 10 industry based members chosen from the Visiting Industrial Professors, Visiting Fellows, external ‘recognised teachers’ and others who are not employed in the University sector.

One member is a ‘non-executive’ from outside of the profession but with a direct interest in it.

The Department of Civil Engineering is represented by the Head of Department, all professors and as many other academic members of staff such that the total of all academic staff approximately matches the number of industrial members.

Other industrial and academic members may be co-opted into membership from time to time.

The terms of reference of the Board are to comment and advise on the research and teaching strategy of the Department, the Department’s relations with industry and alumni, the financial ‘health’ of the Department and its national and international position together with any matters thought by the Board to be relevant to the health and well being of the Department.
