Research summary

Hafiz is contributing to Clean Skies funded project addressing the environmentally assisted degradation of fibre-reinforced composites and is carrying out an extensive programme of mechanical characterization of environmentally conditioned fibre reinforced composites.  Hafiz will be developing a suitable modeling framework for environmentally assisted degradation of composites and will implement it within commercially available finite element analysis packages. The main objective of this research is to verify the applicability of the time-temperature-humidity shift principle to predict the environmentally assisted degradation of fibre-reinforced composites, with special emphasis on exposure to cyclic humidity.
