The Department of Management offers a degree by research leading to a PhD in Management and welcomes applications from those seeking to study both full and part-time. The PhD degree is a research qualification based on preparation of a thesis under the supervision of a member of the Department's academic staff, and advised by another. Research students are normally registered for the MPhil degree in the first instance and, subject to satisfactory progress, are upgraded to PhD status late in their first year, or early in their second year of research, or part-time equivalent. The Department of Management values the contribution that PhD students make both to the body of research and to the culture of scholarship. PhD students are encouraged to become fully integrated into the research activities of the department and are welcome at seminars, clinics and reading groups.
Before applying to the Department, prospective students should first check to see if their proposal matches the research interests of any members of staff.
