Personal profile

Nikos is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Accounting at the University of Bristol. He has completed a BSc in Accounting and Finance at the University of Macedonia (with distinction, ranked 2nd), MSc in Banking and Finance at the International Hellenic University (with distinction, ranked 1st), and PhD in Accounting at the University of Manchester (President's Doctoral Scholar Award), where he was also a part-time tutor. He has worked as Research Assistant at the El Shaarani Centre for Islamic Business and Finance (EIBF) at Aston Business School, Aston University. He is also a Visiting Researcher at Lancaster University Management School. He has been the recipient of scholarships from the University of Manchester and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), and has received research grants from the British Academy (BA/Leverhulme Small Research Grants) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).

His research reflects a longstanding interest in the areas of market-based accounting, textual analysis and natural language processing. His main research interests lie in corporate disclosures and information intermediaries. Some of his recent work examines the role of the financial media in the information transmission process relative to corporate announcements, and the extent to which the financial press serves as an important information intermediary in the capital markets.
