Dr Battal Dogan awarded the British Academy/Leverhulme Small Research Grant
8 March 2019
Dr Battal Dogan has been awarded a British Academy/Leverhulme Small Research Grant to work on his new project "Achieving Diversity in Multistage Centralized Assignment".
The project aims at designing matching mechanisms with multiple stages of assignment that achieve diversity when participants differ based on factors such as gender, socioeconomic status, or ethnicity. The literature either ignores achieving diversity or the possibility of an additional stage of assignment to match those who are unmatched in the first stage or who are not satisfied with their first-stage assignment.
The project will likely benefit policymakers in school choice and in refugee resettlement, both of which feature multiple stages of assignment in practice.
As part of this project, a workshop will take place here at the University of Bristol.
