Senior Lecturer awarded with Best Paper Award

6 August 2018

Congratulations to Humphrey Bourne, Senior Lecturer in Management who has just been awarded the 2017 Best Paper Award from Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly – the journal that features nonprofits, philanthropy, and voluntarism and their impact on society.

His work, conducted with the University of Bath School of Management talks about the challenges non-profit organizations that have rebranded face trying to reconcile social or mission-driven identities, with more business-driven ones.

According to the research, as the pressure to secure resources increases, nonprofit organizations can be led to favour more utilitarian identities, at the risk of alienating stakeholders who would like to preserve the more established identities.
