New three-day work shop launched to share knowledge – Python
23 May 2018
A three-day workshop has kicked off today, bringing together Accounting and Finance academics and PhD students from top universities to share knowledge on Python, a programming language that’s becoming an increasingly important tool for research in the field.
The first of its kind, the workshop sessions are being delivered by Ties de Kok, a PhD Researcher who specializes in combining computer science with empirical Accounting research at University of Tilburg, in the Netherlands. The course is financed by the Department of Accounting and Finance.
The department hosted visitors from the London School of Economics, the University of Exeter, and Cardiff University.
"It’s been great to see so much interest," Dr Adriana Korczak Senior Lecturer in Accounting said.
"The content of the workshop is very topical and the event has been hugely oversubscribed – we’ve had to keep the number of places quite limited, so we can have plenty of interaction. Today has certainly given us all that opportunity."
The event is free of charge for the participants, to make it accessible to those who’d like to strengthen their research skills.
