This year's Gala Dinner was held in the Royal West Academy, allowing staff and students present to look at the art exhibition including several sculptures of wise old owls, before taking their seats for a three course meal. Background jazz music was provided by a quintet from the Bristol University Big Band.
The evening was a great time for finalists and academic staff to meet socially and talk about things other than indifference curves, internal rates of return or instrumental variable estimation. It is now established as the most important event in the School's social calendar.
I consider the evening to have been a great success that we can build on for the future.
