The British Accounting Association has awarded its Lifetime Achievement Award to Professor David Ashton this year. The awards are made annually to one or more individuals who have made a substantial and direct contribution to UK academic accounting and finance over the course of their careers.

At its recent conference at Aston Business School the British Accounting and Finance Association gave a Lifetime Achievement Award to Professor David Ashton. The award recognises individuals who have made a substantial and direct contribution to UK academic accounting and finance over the course of their careers, through research, teaching or public service.  Professor Ashton was Head of the Bristol University Accounting and Finance group for many years and has taken on many other roles, including Chair of the Conference of Professors of Accounting and Finance, and representative on the Research Assessment Exercise panel, as well as serving on numerous editorial boards.

In 2008 former Bristol Accounting Professor, Don Egginton, also received the award.
