This talk is a rare opportunity to hear from an international leader at the heart of our global economy.
Alumnus Nazir Razak will chart CIMB's 40-year journey from small merchant bank in Malaysia to a leading ASEAN commercial group and share his own career story as its Chairman.
Nazir is also chair of World Economic Forum’s ASEAN Regional Business Council and the youngest recipient of FinanceAsia’s ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’.
Dato' Sri Nazir Razak (BSc 1988) graduated from the University of Bristol with a BSc in Economics and Politics in 1988.
The Development and Alumni Relations Office are delighted to welcome him back to Bristol to give a special lecture to his former faculty, entitled "Banking on Change".
Paul Grout, Professor of Political Economy and Advisor to the Bank of England, will welcome Nazir and host a Q & A session following his lecture.
The lecture will be open to all students, though it will be most relevant to those from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law. We expect the lecture to be oversubscribed, so please register early to avoid disappointment.

About the speaker: Dato' Sri Nazir Razak (BSc 1988)
Nazir Razak is the Chairman of CIMB Group Holdings Berhad. He joined CIMB’s corporate advisory department in 1989 and served the Group in various capacities before being appointed Chief Executive in 1999. After 15 years as Chief Executive, Nazir became Chairman on 1 September 2014. He spearheaded the Group’s transformation from a Malaysian investment bank into a regional universal bank via several acquisitions throughout the region.
