Alex Turnbull, BSc Accounting and Finance
I studied Veterinary Medicine at the University of Edinburgh for a year before deciding that it was not the course for me; I decided to spend a year working, and then re-apply. I had visited Bristol on an open-day, and really liked the look of the University and the City of Bristol. Maths and working with numbers had always been my strongest subject, so a degree in Accounting and Finance at the University of Bristol is a great start on my way to hopefully becoming an accountant.
The lecturers and tutors have all been very supportive and are quick to help you if you have any problems.
I would definitely recommend choosing the University of Bristol; it really is a great place to study. The City of Bristol is also a really fun city, with lots to do, and there is a great student atmosphere. If you come to Bristol, be prepared to work hard, but you'll also have a good time!
In 5 years’ time, I would like to have completed my chartered accountant examinations, and I believe my degree in Accounting and Finance will set me up with the relevant skills I need to do this.
