My work is focused on the development of indium antimonide-based quantum well laser diodes at QinetiQ, Malvern. These devices operate in the mid-infrared spectral region and are required for applications in gas-sensing (for example of toxic gases in power plants), free space optical communications, healthcare and missile countermeasures. My work is largely experimental and involves device processing and characterisation.
