The refurbished DCP clinic.
- We have been training Dental Surgeons since 1906 and Dental Care Professionals (DCPs) since 1949 – Bristol is now the UK’s largest provider of DCP training
- In 2006/07, £15 million was invested in a refurbishment programme to develop state-of-the-art teaching and research facilities
- The undergraduate intake on the Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) Programme increased in 2006/07 by 50%, from 55 to 79 per year
- Bristol Dental School and Hospital has 300 members of staff on site across the two organisations (University of Bristol and University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust), plus a further 200 employees in the community
- A new outreach teaching centre will open in 2011 in the Hengrove area of Bristol as part of the new South Bristol Community Hospital. For Bristol dental undergraduates, this new teaching centre will enhance their exposure and experience with patients
- In the 2009 National Student Survey, Bristol was rated as the top Dental School in the UK
- Our research themes are diverse and receive prestigious international recognition. In the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, Bristol was rated 5th of all UK Dental Schools
