How we can help
Resources and information for University staff
There is a range of information and support available to help with your engagement activities (see the list below). To discuss any aspect of public engagement, please contact Philippa Bayley, Academic Liaison Officer; email: philippa.bayley@bristol.ac.uk, tel: +44 (0)117 3318321.
The Engaged University
There is a positive environment for public engagement at the University. It is part of the Institution's Vision and Strategy 2009-16, see The Engaged University, and there is a wealth of public engagement activity taking place.
The Engaged University Steering Group (EUSG)
Chaired by Pro-Vice Chancellor Avril Waterman-Pearson and serviced by the Centre for Public Engagement, this group guides and helps to implement the Engaged University Strategy. Full details of the Group, agendas and minutes are available on the Education Support Unit's web pages.
Supporting public engagement at the University
The Centre for Public Engagement supports existing engagement activities, working with staff and students to develop new initiatives. It celebrates engagement already taking place through publications and online resources (eg the online collection of Public Engagement Stories and recent publication (2009) Public engagement at the University of Bristol).
The Centre also hosts events that bring together academics, students and the public (eg our Talks programme), provides support for training, communications and accessing funding, and collaborates with external organisations interested in engaging with the University (eg the annual Festival of Nature).
