CMM Seminar Series | Dr Elisabeth Lowe, University of Newcastle

24 May 2022, 1.00 PM - 24 May 2022, 2.00 PM

Dr Elisabeth Lowe, University of Newcastle

C42, Biomedical Sciences Building (with hybrid option to join virtually)

Research Scope

My lab is interested in how the gut microbiota use the complex glycans available to them within the human gut, focussing on the Bacteroidetes. We are particularly interested in the relationship between gut bacteria, and pathogenic fungi that colonise the gut such as Candida albicans, investigating how bacteria might affect fungal survival in the gut, and host health. We dissect the enzymes, microbes and glycans involved in these interactions to try and understand the biochemical details of cross-kingdom relationships in the human gut.
