Wind turbines on hill

The development of sustainable energy technologies and policy is essential to address the increasing pressures of limited fossil fuel reserves, energy security concerns and the need for reduced carbon dioxide emissions. The University is addressing these challenges through the development of renewable energy technologies such as wind and tidal power, thermodynamic technologies to increase heat transfer efficiency and electrical integration systems for optimising energy distribution and transmission. These activities are complemented by the development of miniature self-powered sensing devices, which are integrated with advanced energy management systems in both buildings and vehicles.
