World class PhD training for exceptional medical, veterinary and dental graduates
23 March 2018
Schools within the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences are part of an alliance with the Wellcome Trust funded GW4 Clinical Academic Training (CAT) programme, giving exceptional early career medical, veterinary and dental graduates the chance to undertake interdisciplinary world class PhD training.
The second cohort of 5 who begin their PhDs in August 2018 includes Dr Emily Milodowski, a veterinarian graduate who said;
‘Research is really important for the continued advancement of the veterinary profession. The GW4-CAT scheme bridges the gap for vets to enter this field, where previously there has not always been a structured career track to becoming a clinical academic.’
Dr Milodowski began her research career with an Elizabeth Blackwell Institute Clinical Primer studying cancer immunology in the Schools of Veterinary Science and Cellular Molecular Medicine in Bristol.
The longer-term goals of the programme are to encourage more clinicians to pursue academic clinical careers and build a South West and South Wales Centre of Excellence for Clinical Academic Training.
The call for applications for a Summer 2019 start is now OPEN.
Closing date is midday 14th May 2018. For more information please visit: http://gw4-cat.ac.uk/how-to-apply/
