Screen Research

Screen Research is an interdisciplinary research cluster in the Faculty of Arts that explores screen research in its broadest sense, incorporating comparative studies of historical periods and contexts; theoretical and practical understandings of screen media and intermediality; and methodologies including the analysis of text-based and archive material and practice-based work. In 2016-17 we will run three events on the theme of METHOD: 1) Approaches, Forms, Methods; 2) Archive and Materiality (Spring 2017); Practice as Research (Summer 2017); to be followed by a funding workshop in July 2017. We plan to develop existing relationships with the Bristol Record Office and to extend further research into the Empire and Commonwealth photographic and moving image collections. The cluster is co-led by Dr Jacqueline Maingard (Film and Television, j.maingard@bristol.ac.uk) and Dr Catherine O’Rawe (Modern Languages, c.g.orawe@bristol.ac.uk). All enquiries welcome!
