Nineteenth Joint Postgraduate Conference on Religion and Theology

'Spiritual Exercises'

Friday 7 and Saturday 8 March 2014

Keynote Speaker: Professor Rupert Gethin: 'Emptiness and unknowing: comparing Buddhist and Christian spiritual practices'

This conference seeks to bring together postgraduates and early-career academics working on the study of religions from a variety of perspectives and disciplines, creating a space for them to share their work and to further encourage research and collaboration within the University of Bristol (the host institution), and among members of other universities within the UK and Europe.

This year's special theme is ‘Spiritual Exercises’, which is to be understood broadly as including asceticism, mysticism, soteriology, religious experience, and contemplative practices, but we welcome proposals on any research in religious or theological studies, as well as in cognate areas. Our submission deadline, 13 January, has passed. However, we will accept late submissions until 20 January. If you have any questions, please contact the organisers at pg.rt.conf@gmail.com.
