Documentary is still a much-neglected part of global engagement with the Korean Film Industry. With a focus on high-end blockbusters or made-forNetflix dramas, the smaller budget, independent-made features are not gaining international attention. This talk will expore recent trends in Korean documentary including funding, circulation and film content. From diverse topics from cats to football, from North Korean politics to LGBTQ+ parenting, from the streets of Seoul to the forgotten countryside, this talk will wxplore how recent Korean documentaries have delved deep into the challenges, truimphs, and complexities of contemporary Korean society and how we sought to develop a Korean time-limited documentary program in Sheffield.

All University of Bristol Staff and Students welcome, no booking necessary.
