How do I apply?

Use our online form. Applications close at 9 am on Monday 6 November 2017.
We will allocate our places using two main criteria:

Therefore, please give your answers careful consideration, and respond in full on the online form.

How much money do I need to raise?

We ask you to pledge to raise at least £2,000. The money you raise will go to support cardiovascular research at the University of Bristol.

How will the money I raise be spent?

Money raised will be used to support and further the University of Bristol’s cardiovascular research. Cardiovascular disease is one of the most serious medical challenges our society faces, with heart and circulatory disease being the leading cause of death in the world today. The University of Bristol is working to reduce such statistics with world-class research into cardiovascular disease. BCV is an internationally recognised centre of excellence, with over 200 researchers and clinicians who have contributed to the discoveries of vital treatments such as the use of stem cells to regenerate defective human cardiac and vascular tissues, and the first analogue pacemaker that mimics the heart’s natural rhythm.

What support will I receive?

Key dates:

If you are successful in applying for one of our seven bonds, you will receive further instruction on how to register your place officially with the Virgin Money London Marathon. The official deadline that the London Marathon requires you to register your place is 5:00 pm on Friday 26 January, however we ask all our Bristol runners to have registered by an internal deadline of Sunday 21 January. If you haven’t registered your place by this date, or can’t show you’ve started fundraising, we reserve the right to allocate your place to another runner. If you choose to withdraw from the race after this date, we cannot guarantee you a place in the 2019 event.
