International Recruitment Team

Welcome to the International Recruitment Team website

The International Recruitment Team conducts a range of recruitment activities in the target markets identified in the International Recruitment Marketing Plan.

• The external mission of the office is to raise awareness of Bristol's existence and prestige throughout the world, specifically in areas identified through generic research bodies such as the British Council. Academic departments are strongly encouraged to consider accompanying us on these missions, taking advantage of our presence in-country to promote their own academic disciplines. Although the International Recruitment Team is not able to assist with expenses for accompanying academics, there are clear savings to be made by accompanying any outward mission.

• Details of where we will be going in the coming months can be found on our website - this is part of our student area, so please use the back link to return to this staff area for further advice. If you would like more details about any of our overseas visits, please contact the member of staff involved who will be happy to advise you on whether they think it would be a suitable trip to participate in.

• Qualification Equivalences can be found in two areas of the site: one available to prospective students and their advisers, designed to give guidance and encouragement, but not too much detail on our requirements to people outside the institution. A much fuller list of equivalences, intended for UoB staff only and not for release outside the institution, is hosted in a secure Staff Only site which can be accessed by entering your normal UoB login. This area gives a much more detailed market analysis, extracted from a variety of sources and specifically for UoB use. If you require information on any qualification not listed here, do call us by email at iro@bristol.ac.uk, or on extension 45788 - we will research the question as quickly as possible for you.

• In a number of markets we work with specific agents, who represent our interests throughout the year and point qualified students in our direction. The International Recruitment Team are responsible for the management of agent relationships and often act as the liaison between the agent and the department. The names and contact details of these agents can be found on the same country-specific pages as the qualification equivalences for students and external advisers, though you may need to scroll down the page a little to find them. Where no agents are identified, this is a market which we do not feel would benefit from specific representations. Any queries relating to agents should be directed to the International Recruitment Team.

• We also offer travel advice on the Staff Only site for members of staff undertaking recruitment activities overseas. These are only guidance notes, but they broadly cover the issues we think you need to check off before going overseas short-term on University business. There are also copies of suggestions extracted from other trusted sources (identified as appropriate) but all should be treated in the spirit of general advice, not an exhaustive list of requirements.
