Coimbra group
The Coimbra Group is an association of European universities who organise themselves into working groups (or 'task forces') to explore issues of mutual interest. Most of the membership are older universities, well regarded in their home countries. There is an administrative office in Brussels, which keeps abreast of EU news such as calls for bids and funding opportunities.
Bristol has in the past been a very central part of the Coimbra group. At present, however, participation is generally lower. Nonetheless, UoB still has a strong interest in the work of the Group and has representation on several of the task forces (see below). There is an annual General Assembly, in which the work of the past year is presented and summarised. Those summaries are made available on this site.
The group activities are focused around a set of task forces:
- culture, arts and humanities
- doctoral studies and research
- education, training and mobility
- career guidance working group
- eastern neighbouring countries
- Latin America
- African, Caribbean and Pacific countries
- e-learning
