Celebrating 75 Years

This year we are celebrating 75 years since opening our doors to our first group of veterinary students. 2024 also marks the 25th anniversary of the launch of our very first veterinary nursing programmes.

All of us here at Bristol Veterinary School are proud to celebrate our 75th anniversary. Established in the post-war years as a result of the second Loveday Committee report which recommended that the ‘State must contribute more to veterinary education’ and that ‘every veterinary school should have a field station where students could gain experience with farm animals’ – Langford House was purchased and the rest, as they say, is history. More than 5,000 graduates later and Bristol Veterinary School goes from strength to strength. Not only are we about to graduate our 70th cohort of veterinary surgeons, but our veterinary nursing degree programme also celebrates 25 years in 2024. We are holding a series of events over the next 12 months including a celebration of our research, teaching and clinical excellence as well as a community day and a Langford reunion for our alumni in the summer. We look forward to celebrating this landmark with as many of you as possible.
