A Playwright's Process: FREE workshops for South West based playwrights, actors, directors and theatre makers

28 March 2025, 5.00 PM - 28 March 2025, 7.00 PM

University of Bristol Theatre Collection

Are you a playwright who would like to connect with other playwrights and theatre-makers in the South West? Or an actor, director or theatre practitioner / researcher who would like to work more closely with local writers and explore the playwriting process?

Join Polly Tisdall, winner of The Kevin Elyot Award 2024, for a series of informal workshops at University of Bristol Theatre Collection. We'll drink tea, share who we are and what we do, and use Elyot's notes and plays to spark discussion about our own playwriting and theatre-making processes.

Workshop 1: Friday 28th March 2025: 5pm-7pm: What Is Lost

We'll read different drafts of key scenes from Kevin Elyot's most famous play, My Night With Reg, and reflect on what happens as a playwright writes & rewrites. What is lost and what is gained?  Writers are invited to bring different drafts of their own scenes to share in small groups and Polly will also share some differing drafts of scenes from her recent playwriting practice. How is it to share our work with others in draft form? How do we shape and re-shape meaning in our scenes?

Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

To book: please email Polly on pltisdall@gmail.com with the subject: KE Award Workshop (March) and state in the body of your email whether you consider yourself a playwright, actor, director, theatre practitioner or researcher.
