A Playwright's Process: FREE workshop for South West based playwrights, actors, directors and theatre makers

Join Polly Tisdall, winner of The Kevin Elyot Award 2024 for an informal workshop at University of Bristol Theatre Collection. We'll drink tea, share who we are and what we do, and use Elyot's notes and plays to spark discussion about our own playwriting and theatre-making processes.

Workshop 3: Friday 24th Oct 5pm-7pm

We’ll explore Kevin Elyot’s working notes for his 2001 play Mouth to Mouth and consider how Elyot worked consciously with image to focus his audience on his themes. How conscious, or unconscious, are we of how we handle image in our own work?

Polly will share some brief reflections from her own writing practice, and writers and makers are invited to bring examples of central and repeating images / motifs which they have explored in their own theatre-making, or would like to explore in a current project. Can a core image help us to refine and focus our playwriting?

Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

To book: please email Polly on pltisdall@gmail.com with the subject: KE Award Workshop (October) and state in the body of your email whether you consider yourself a playwright, actor, director, theatre practitioner or researcher.
